La QUINTA, Calif. – Kansas juniorÂ
Lyla Louderbaugh won her second-career tournament at the Yale Invitational West, March 9-10, with scores of 68-68-70 (-9). The Kansas women's golf team finished second for the tournament, posting scores of 283-286-281 (-14).
"I'm really proud of Lyla shooting 68-68-71 throughout the tournament to win by two strokes. She was really consistent with her approach shots and putted really well this week with great speed control." Kansas head coach Linsday Kuhle said.Â
Pepperdine won the tournament with a three-round score of 848 (-16), followed byÂ
KANSASÂ (-14), Virginia Tech (+2), Kansas State (+9) and San Diego State (+14) to round out the top five. Â
Louderbaugh has won two events in her career, including last season at the NCAA Regionals. Louderbaugh has recorded four top-five finishes on the year, and six top-five finishes for her career. She also has recorded 13 rounds in the 60's in her career.Â
Sophomore
Ebba Nordstedt had a major impact throughout the Yale Invitational, recording rounds of 74-69-68 (-5). Nordstedt tied for fourth place, marking her second top-five finish of the season, and ninth top 20 finish of her career.Â
Seniors
Amy DeKock and
Anna Wallin both finished inside the top 20 and tied for 13th place. DeKock carded rounds of 71-75-72 (+2), recording her sixth top 20 finish of the season, and 17th top 20 finish in her career. Wallin finished with scores of 70-77-71 (+2) and recorder her fourth top 20 finish of her career.Â
Freshman
Kinslea Jones finished the tournament with scores of 74-74-73 (+5) and tied for 23rd place individually.
"I'm really proud of Ebba for shooting back-to-back 68's in the final two rounds, and Anna for shooting a 70 in the first," Kuhle said. "Amy and Kinsley contributed as well. It's a benefit over 18 rounds of golf with six players to shoot between a 68 and a 75." Â
Freshman
Marieke Ebens competed as an individual and recorded scores of 75-75-73 (+7). Ebens tied for 27th place individually. Â
