Jayhawks Tally 1041 Points for 3rd Place Finish at Big 12 Showcase - West

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Kansas swim and dive completed the Big 12 Showcase - West with three additional personal-best times and a third-place finish in Tempe, Arizona.
"We had a very good start to 2026," head coach Clark Campbell said. "The Big 12 Showcase was a perfect way to open the new year. We know where we stand in the conference and what we need to work on heading into championships."
Freshman Ivy Solt opened for the Jayhawks in the 1650-yard freestyle, placing second with 16:53.53. Sophomore Gabi Dyer recorded a lifetime best 16:50.16 to finish seventh, while fellow sophomore Tait Haag landed in 11th and freshman Aubrey Tuthill in 19th.
Senior Hailey Farrell took third in the 200-yard IM at 2:02.19, just a second behind runner-up. Freshman Madison Wagner and sophomore Maya Lambert finished milliseconds apart for 14th and 15th respectively, and senior Aidan Howze concluded in 18th.
Freshman Sarah Blake added a fifth-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (51.29). Sophomore Sophie Wallace touched the wall at 50.97 for 13th. Senior Caroline Blake (51.35) placed 18thand junior Mia Waldron (51.87) in 20th.
Fellow freshman Sammy Cummins placed second in the 200-yard butterfly clocking in at 2:00.42. Sophomores Anna Gearhart, Lambert, and Taylor Cloutman placed 10th, 12th, ands 15th in their respective heats.
Junior Bradie Ward secured another top-three result, finishing third in the 200-yard backstroke in 1:59.26. Senior Lydia Lafferty added to her plethora of personal records this season with 2:00.07 for 10th. Farrell (2:02.22) landed in 15th for her second event of the day and freshman Kelsey Healy in 20th.
KU closed the meet with a seventh-place showing in the 400-yard freestyle relay as Wallace, S. Blake, Dyer and Waldron combined for a time of 3:23.95. Wallace (50.72) also recorded a personal best as the first Jayhawk in the pool.
On the boards, junior Shiyun Lai won the 1-meter dive, while seniors Lize van Leeuwen and Grace Zifcak placed 8th and 17th respectively.
