PRINCETON, N.J. - The Kansas rowing team will head to the east coast to compete in the Princeton Chase, marking the program's first appearance at the event.
First held in 2008, the Princeton Chase features a diverse field of collegiate rowing programs from across the country, including nationally ranked teams and some of the sport's most prestigious programs.
The competition features five programs that were nationally ranked during the 2025-26 season. including Princeton, Oklahoma, Virginia, Clemson and Penn. Princeton enters the competition ranked in the top 10, giving the Jayhawks an opportunity to compete against some of the nation's top rowing programs.
"We are really looking forward to competing at the Princeton Chase for the first time," said head coach Andrew Derrick, entering his second year with Jayhawks. "The regatta features a field of more than 60 collegiate women's eights, including many nationally-ranked programs and teams that competed at the 2026 NCAA Championships. We're excited for the opportunity to compete against such strong competition and see how we stack up."
Last season, Derrick led Kansas rowing to a historic 2025-26 run, recording the highest Big 12 Championship finish in program history (second place), a sweep against Kansas State in the annual Dillons Sunflower Showdown to continue Kansas' upward trajectory on both conference and national stages.
