Boca Raton, Fla. – Kansas closed out the weekend with a 4-1 victory over Villanova, responding after a difficult run-rule loss earlier in the day. The Jayhawks relied on timely hitting and steady pitching to secure the bounce-back win.
"It was a long weekend, and we've got to figure out how to not beat ourselves in games as we did earlier," said head coach Jennifer McFalls. "That was a tough loss for us, but the important thing is learning from it and growing. I loved the way we bounced back; we found a way to win. That's important."
After falling behind 1-0 to Villanova in the second inning, Kansas responded immediately and gradually built separation behind RBI efforts from Emma Tatum and Hailey Cripe before a two-run home run in the sixth by Kadence Stafford provided insurance. The bounce-back performance came just hours after an 8-0 run-rule loss to UMass, as the Jayhawks tightened up defensively and limited mistakes while Kaelee Washington held Villanova scoreless over the final five innings to secure the win.

- Kansas looked to answer in the third after Presley Limbaugh singled to lead off the frame, but a pair of fielder's choice plays erased the threat. UMass added two more runs in the bottom half, taking advantage of defensive miscues to extend the lead to 7-0.
- The Minutewomen added another run in the fourth following an error and an RBI single. Kansas put a runner on in the fourth after Anna Soles was hit by a pitch and moved to third, but the Jayhawks were unable to capitalize.
- Tehya Pitts singled in the fifth to give Kansas its fifth hit of the game, but UMass closed out the inning to secure the 8-0 run-rule victory.
