AMES, Iowa – The Jayhawks earned a dominating 211 – 89 win over conference opponent, Iowa State Cyclones to close out their regular season schedule and head into the championship season.
"Today was a challenge and the team handled the day incredibly well," said head coach
Clark Campbell. "Coming off the bus and competing right away takes immense mental toughness and we were gritty from the first to last event. It was a good way to finish up the regular season and now our focus is squarely on the Big 12 Championship."

Ryan Johnston, as well as sophomores
Anna Gearhart and
Sophie Wallace succeed in the first victory of the day, scoring a 1:43.07 time in the 200-yard medley relay.
Sophomores
Gabi Dyer (10:11.72) and
Tait Haag (10:17.33) claimed first and runner-up respectively in the 1000-yard freestyle, with freshman
Aubrey Tuthill trailing in fourth.
Fellow Freshman and Big 12 Newcomer of the Week,
Ivy Solt swam the 200-yard freestyle in 1:52.33 for first, senior
Hailey Farrell followed just milliseconds behind for second, and sophomore
Taylor Cloutman landed in fourth.
Lafferty saw an additional win in the 100-yard backstroke with a 55.31 time. Junior
Bradie Ward and freshman
Kelsey Healy placed third and fourth respectively.
In the 100-yard breastroke, Johnston, just a second behind Iowa State, settled into second and senior
Molly Robinson touched the wall at 1:07.25 for fourth. Sophomore
Alayna Henage shadowed in fifth.
Freshman
Sammy Cummins posted a 2:04.71 time to claim first in the 200-yard butterfly, with sophomore
Maya Lambert scoring third at 2:05.85 and Gearhart in fourth.
Jayhawks swept the podium in the 50-yard freestyle, with senior
Caroline Blake (23.98) in first, junior
Mia Waldron (24.03) in second, and Wallace (24.21) taking third.
In her third event of day, Wallace secured her second, first-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a 52.74 time. Blake and Waldron took second and third respectively in their back-to-back events.
The 200-yard backstroke saw Ward take first at 2:04.02, as well as freshman
Madison Wagner (2:05.77) land in second with Healy (2:06.09) in third, clinching the third podium sweep of the day for the Jayhawks.
Johnston earned another runner-up position in the 200-yard breastroke, clocking in at 2:16.88. Senior
Aidan Howze posted a 2:22.31 time for fourth and Robinson tailed for sixth.
Dyer gained her second, first-place finish of the meet in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:58.30. Solt followed for runner-up at 5:02.12 and Haag placed fourth just two seconds behind.
Lafferty won her third event on the day with a 55.54 time in the 100-yard butterfly. Gearhart swam a 56.80 time for runner-up and sophomore
Ella Hansen followed behind for third.
Farrell added to the plethora of first-place finishes in the 200-yard IM, posting a 2:05.61 time. Wagner scored a third-place time of 2:09.38 and Lambert (2:10.45) followed in fifth.
Rounding out the competition, the Kansas A squad (Blake, Wallace, Waldron, and Lafferty) sealed the win over the Cyclones with a 1:35.67 time in the 200-yard freestyle relay, cementing the 5- 1 dual meet record for the Jayhawks this season.
On the boards, senior
Lize van Leeuwen earned 314.40 points for second place on the 3-meter dive. Freshman
Kelly Estebo took fourth and junior
Shiyun Lai placed fifth. Lai (299.03) went on to secure first on the 1-meter dive with van Leeuwen claiming runner up in both events. Senior
Grace Zifcak followed in sixth.
