DALLAS, Texas – The Kansas women's golf team is set to travel to Dallas to compete in the Big 12 Women's Golf Championship at the DAC Gold Course from April 23-25
"We're super excited to head back to DAC and to play the Gold Course," KU Head Coach Linsday Kuhle said. "Our team has so much great experience and has learned so much this season. We are playing with really high confidence now."
Kansas will compete in a 14-team field that includes UCF, Arizona State, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Baylor, Arizona, Houston, Kansas State, TCU, Colorado, Texas Tech, BYU, and Cincinnati.
The Big 12 Championship consists of three 18-hole rounds played over three days. Kansas will tee-off on Thursday, April 23, at 8:50 a.m. CT on hole one.
The top 10 individual finishers will earn Big 12 All-Tournament honors following the conclusion of Saturday's final round.
Kansas will travel with a lineup of seniors Amy DeKock, Anna Wallin, junior Lyla Louderbaugh, sophomore Ebba Nordstedt, freshman Kinslea Jones, and Marieke Ebens. Ebens will be a KU reserve for the Big 12 Championship.
The Jayhawks have recorded seven top five finishes on the season, including one tournament championship at the Marilynn Smith Invitational in Lawrence, Kansas. Three golfers won an individual championship this season, including DeKock who won the Jayhawk Invitational (Lawrence, Kan.), Ebba Nordstedt who won the Marilynn Smith Invitational (Lawrence, Kan.), and Lyla Louderbaugh who won the Yale Invitational West (La Quinta, Calif.).
Historically, Kansas captured its lone conference title in 1990, winning the Big Eight Championship at Alvamar Golf Club in Lawrence, Kansas. Since the start of the Big 12 era in 1996-97, the Jayhawks' best finish came in 2014 when they tied for fourth at the UT Golf Club in Austin, Texas. That 2014 team went on to earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Regional and advanced to the NCAA Championship.
"All five golfers are hitting it well and have a great opportunity to make a lot of birdies on this course. Ball striking and short game again will be important on this course," Kuhle said. "We're confident our ladies are prepared and will have fun competing and representing KU this week."
