DALLAS – The Kansas women's golf team finished in ninth place at the Big 12 Women's Golf Championship at the conclusion of the final round on Saturday. The Jayhawks finished with a three-round score of 889 (+25).
"We got off to some really good starts this week which was our emphasis," Kansas head coach Lindsay Kuhle said. "I'm proud of how the ladies competed this week after a tough start in round one to move up."
Iowa State won the 14-team tournament with a three-round score of 859 (-5), followed by Houston (+1), UCF (+6), Arizona State (+10), and Oklahoma State (+10) to round out the top five.
"This conference is extremely competitive, and DAC (Gold) was a championship course that exposes weaknesses," Kuhle said. "I'm confident that our ladies and staff will make some great progress and improvements on their game to be prepared for (NCAA) regionals in two weeks."
Junior Lyla Louderbaugh led the way for the Jayhawks and finished the tournament with scores of 79-71-71 (+5) and tied for 24th place individually in the 81-golfer field. Louderbaugh carded two rounds under par throughout the tournament, and has recorded 14 rounds under par on the season.

"I'm proud of how our seniors," Kuhle said. "Lyla and Kinslea played well the last two days and throughout the tournament. We'll use this as a great learning lesson to be even more prepared for the post season to come."
