LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas Baseball's
Tyson Owens was named to Baseball America's National Team of the Week, the publication announced on Tuesday.

Owens was selected as the Big 12 Player of the Week and the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week on Monday.

Last week, Owens hit .625/.684/1.250 (10-for-16), with a double, three home runs, seven RBIs, nine runs scored and two walks with a 1.934 OPS. He connected on a home run in three of the four games and had multiple hits in all four contests.

Owens scored at least one run in all four games and scored multiple runs in three of the games. He also drove in at least one RBI in all four games and multiple RBI in two of the games.

The Las Vegas, Nevada, native hit a go-ahead home run in the fifth inning at Kansas State on Sunday, a ninth inning home run on Saturday and a game-tying home run against No. 20 Nebraska in the sixth inning of a 9-7 win on Tuesday.

The massive week at the plate for Owens helped the Jayhawks to a perfect 4-0 week versus No. 20 Nebraska and on the road at Kansas State. It also raised Owens' season batting average from .248 to .293.

Baseball America introduced its National College Team of the Week this season and Owens is the second Jayhawk to earn a spot on the team. LeBlanc was named to the team on April 7.

No. 11 Kansas (33-11, 17-4 Big 12) has won six straight games, 17 of the last 18 and 23 of its last 26 contests. The Jayhawks play at Wichita State tonight, before hosting Arizona for a weekend series at Hoglund Ballpark. Kansas is in first place in the Big 12 standings with a 3-game lead.
