Kansas Finishes in Fifth at Tiger Invitational

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Kansas men's golf finished in fifth place at the Tiger Invitational, posting a three-round score of 848 (+8) after the conclusion of round three on Tuesday. The tournament was played at The Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia, Missouri.
With its finish, Kansas records its fourth-consecutive top five finish and seventh of the season.Â
"We weren't able to get much going this week." Kansas coach Jamie Bermel said. "We knew before we started that the greens and pin placements were going to be the only defense, and we played defense all three rounds."Â Â
Missouri, the tournament host, won the event with a three-round total of 833 (-7), followed by Iowa State (E), St. Mary's (+5) and Xavier (+7). Kansas (+8) finished one shot behind Xavier to round out the top five.
Senior Will King led the way for the Jayhawks with scores of 70-70-70 (E) and tied for seventh place individually. King recorded his fourth top 10 finish of the season and 12th of his career. It was also his fifth top 20 finish of the season and 20th of his career.Â
Junior Will Baker finished the tournament with rounds of 68-72-73 (+3) and tied for 16th place individually. Baker finished inside the top 20 for the fifth time this season and recorded his ninth round in the 60s.
Sophomore Hartej Grewal finished the tournament with scores of 70-72-71 (+3), joining Baker in the tie for 16th place. Grewal recorded his fifth top 20 finish of the season and his third round at even par on the year.Â
Freshman Arthur Carlier tied for 20th place individually after firing rounds of 70-73-71 (+4). This marked Carlier's fourth top 20 finish of the season.
Senior Luke Honner recorded rounds of 73-71-72 (+6) throughout the tournament and tied for 35th place individually.Â
Junior Noah Holtzman, who competed as an individual, finished the tournament with scores of 71-70-74 (+5) and finished tied for 24th place. This was Holtzman's first event this season and he recorded one round at even par with eight birdies throughout the event.
"Will King looks to be rounding into form and has been playing some very solid golf for us. We have 10 days to get ready for Indiana. We are looking to get some good work in and be ready to play."

Kansas will travel to Bloomington, Indiana to compete in its final regular season tournament of the season, at the Hoosier Collegiate on April 18-19.Â
