STILLWATER, Okla. – Kansas tied a season-high 17 hits, while freshman Lila Patridge pitched a complete game as Kansas defeated No. 13 Oklahoma State, 10-1, with a run rule victory on Saturday afternoon at Cowgirl Stadium.Â
With the win, Kansas improves to 34-17 (14-9 Big 12), while marking their fourth ranked Big 12 Conference win this season. Oklahoma State falls to 36-14 (15-8 Big 12), with the series rubber match scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
"We came back out today with a lot of confidence," head coach Jennifer McFalls said. "Our offense was absolutely outstanding today, and Lila Partridge was amazing. It was a great team effort all the way around."
Kansas jumped out to an early 5-0 lead behind a seven hit, five run first inning, as Kansas' first five batters of the game reached base safely. Senior Aynslee Linduff hit a two RBI single to put Kansas up 5-0.
In the top of the third inning, freshman Ella Boyer hit her 18th home run of the season to increase Kansas' lead to 8-1. The very next batter, senior Campbell Bagshaw homered to left field, her 10th home run of the season. Kansas would add another run in the top of the fourth inning to take a 10-1 lead.
Partridge was dominant on the mound for the Jayhawks, pitching a complete game while allowing just two hits and striking out four batters.Â
How It Happened | vs. Oklahoma State
- The Kansas bats came out hot in the first inning, as senior Presley Limbaugh singled to lead off the game, and then junior Anna Soles doubled to right-center field to give the Jayhawks two runners in scoring position with no outs. Still with no outs, senior Hailey Cripe singled down the left field line, scoring Limbaugh from third.Â
- The Jayhawk bats kept rolling as freshman Ella Boyer singled to left field, scoring Soles from third base. Senior Campbell Bagshaw picked up a hit of her own, driving an RBI single to right-center field, scoring Cripe from second. Senior Aynslee Linduff then hit a single down the third base line, driving in Boyer and Bagshaw.Â
- Sophomore Ava Wallace kept the first inning going with a single to right field, putting runners on the corners with just one out. Two batters later, Limbaugh got on base for the second time in the inning, working a walk and loading the bases with two outs. Soles then lined out to third base, ending the inning with the Jayhawks on top 5-0.
- In the bottom of the first, with two outs, Oklahoma State third baseman Rosie Davis got the Cowgirls on the board with a solo home run to center field, making the score 5-1.Â
- The Kansas offense picked up right where they left off in the top of the second, picking up back-to-back singles from Cripe and Boyer to start the inning. Bagshaw moved the runners over with a sacrifice bunt, giving the Jayhawks runners on second and third with one out. Junior September Flanagan worked a walk to load the bases for Linduff, who hit another single, scoring Cripe from third, Linduff's third RBI of the day. Kansas couldn't push another run across in the inning, sending the game to the bottom of the second with a 6-1 lead.Â
- Oklahoma State picked up a single with one out in the bottom of the second, but freshman Lila Partridge struck out the next two Cowgirl batters to end the inning.Â
- In the top of the fifth, with Cripe on first base and one out, Boyer launched her 18th home run of the season. Bagshaw followed Boyer up with a home run of her own, her 10th of the season, extending the Kansas lead to 9-1.Â
- After Partridge retired the side in order in the bottom of the third, Linduff led off the fourth inning with her third hit of the day, a double down the left field line. With two outs, Limbaugh picked up her second hit of the day, an RBI double to right-center field, scoring Linduff and giving Kansas a 10-1 lead.Â
- Partridge took just seven pitches to shut down the Oklahoma State offense in the fourth inning, her second straight three-up, three-down inning.Â
- The fifth inning went quietly for both teams, giving Kansas a 10-1 win.Â
