Kansas Soccer to Host Community Kindness Match vs. Arizona

LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Kansas soccer team will host its annual Community Kindness Match in Honor of Regan Gibbs on Sunday, Sept. 27 at Rock Chalk Park. The match against Arizona will begin at 1 p.m. CT, and will be used to provide information about domestic violence resources in the community while raising awareness about domestic violence.
In May 2022, the Kansas soccer family lost a former Jayhawk as a result of domestic violence. Regan Gibbs was a member of two NCAA Tournament teams as a goalkeeper for the Jayhawks from 2015-18. A moment of silence will be held for Gibbs and all victims of domestic violence before the match.
"This match gives us an opportunity to come together as a team and a community to honor Regan's memory and raise awareness for domestic violence," Kansas head coach Nate Lie said. "We hope this match brings people together, encourages important conversations, and reminds us of the responsibility we all have to support those affected by domestic violence."
Kansas is hosting a donation drive in partnership with the Willow Domestic Violence Center for the match. The drive started on Monday, Sept. 21, and runs through the day of the match. Donation boxes will be placed at the main entrance of the Wagnon Student-Athlete Center, in front of the Anderson Family Strength Center, and at the main desk of the football indoor facility. A donation box will be placed at the main gate of Rock Chalk Park on the day of the match until halftime. Fans interested in making a donation should bring any of the below items.Â

The Willow Domestic Violence Center helps build safer communities through shelter, services, and support to survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking in the surrounding areas of Douglas, Franklin, and Jefferson counties.
Kansas (6-2-1, 0-0-1 Big 12) plays at home twice this week, hosting Arizona State on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. CT before the Arizona match on Sunday, Sept. 27. Fans can purchase tickets to either match by contacting the Kansas ticket office at 785-864-3141 or by visiting the ticketing page here.
