MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Kansas will wrap up its road trip with a conference match against West Virginia on Sunday afternoon. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
"I was proud of our team for picking up a conference victory on the road Thursday," head coach Nate Lie said. "It was great to earn a result, but we have to refocus for Sunday. West Virginia is a very talented team and Morgantown is a difficult place to play if your team is not ready to go. We fully expect our group to challenge West Virginia and hopefully we can come home with another result."
Kansas (4-2-3, 1-1-0 Big 12) earned its first conference victory on the road since the 2020-21 season on Thursday night at Cincinnati. The Jayhawks defeated the Bearcats 1-0 for their first Big 12 win of the season. Junior
Lexi Watts scored the lone goal in the 53rd minute and redshirt freshman
Sophie Dawe tallied her third shutout of the season.
Freshman midfielder
Jillian Gregorski was named Big 12 Freshman of the Week on Sept. 18. Gregorski recorded a hat trick on Sept. 15, which was the first of her career and the first by a Kansas player since 2019. The hat trick was the 11th in program history and she was the ninth Kansas player to get a hat trick. Gregorski scored her three goals in only 42 minutes of action on the field.
The Jayhawks are at the halfway point of their season and one of the biggest differences from a season ago is how the defense has limited opponents opportunities. Opponents have averaged only 5.7 shots per game this season. A year ago, opponents were averaging 13.6 shots per game at this same point in the season. In total, Kansas has allowed 71 fewer shot attempts this season through the first nine matches.
ABOUT WEST VIRGINIA

Ajanae Respass and Taylor White each lead the team with four goals this season, while Mackenzie Smith recorded her second shutout of the season in goal on Thursday.
