LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas rowing team return to the Kansas River on Sunday, Oct. 26th for its first home race of the year and conclusion to the team's fall season. KU will face Big 12 rivals in Kansas State and Tulsa, while also racing against Creighton.
Kansas State came in fourth at the Big 12 Women's Rowing Championship in 2025, just behind the Jayhawks, while Tulsa was second in the conference last spring.
"We are really looking forward to welcoming these teams to Lawrence this weekend," Kansas coach Andrew Derrick said, who will make his home coaching debut in his first season with the Jayhawks. "It's not common in rowing to get to host out of your own facility, and that makes this race a bit unique and one we hope to continue. It is also really cool we get to take on our in-state rivals the same weekend as many other sports. I think it adds a bit of extra meaning to the race and for our team, as we do our part to represent our program and University in this great rivalry with the Wildcats, as well as the other two great opponents."
Kansas is coming off a women's club fours first place win at the Head of the Charles, as the team finished with a time of 18:05.254 in Boston this past weekend. At the same event, the women's championship fours boat placed 12th in the regatta on the Charles River.
KU will have 94 Jayhawk rowers competing throughout the day, with six boats taking off in flight one beginning at 10:45 a.m. CT. Following a mid-day break, racing will resume at 12:30 p.m. with another eight Kansas boats in flight two to wrap up the day.
Admission is free for any fan wanting to attend, or you can follow along with live results here.
