LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas Rowing welcomes Minnesota, Iowa, and San Diego to the third annual Double Dual on April 11-12, marking the first of two home regattas at Wyandotte County Lake.
"I am incredibly excited for the speed we will see this weekend, from not only our team but also the visiting teams," said Kansas head coach
Carrie Cook-Callen. "Surrounding ourselves with other high-performing crews is a greatly anticipated opportunity each time we get to race. We think of these races as stepping stones toward our end of season goal and it gives the team confidence to know that they can and will perform when the pressure is on."
The Jayhawks kick off the weekend on Friday at 4:30 p.m. against Iowa, starting with the 2 Varsity 4+ in the first of 24 2,000-meter races. The schedule continues with the 1V8+, 2V8+, and 1V4+ events. The 3V8+ and 1N8+ will compete simultaneously before the day wraps up with the 4V8+ and 2N8+. The same race order will be followed on both days of competition.
Minnesota will race against San Diego on Friday, with alternating 10-minute race intervals between matchups. Saturday's action resumes at 8:30 a.m. with Kansas taking on Minnesota while Iowa faces San Diego.
The Jayhawks enter the regatta following a strong performance at the Sarasota 2K on March 28-29, where two boats claimed victory in their respective final races. The 1V4+ secured gold in the C Final, while the 2V8+ recorded KU's best finish of the weekend by winning the B Final.
Live timing for the event is available for fans interested in following along. Live updates will also be posted to the
Kansas Rowing X account.
Admission to the event is free, but parking is $5 for those driving. Directions to the lake can be found
