ORLANDO, Fla. – Kansas softball fell in the second game of a three-game series Saturday against UCF, 9-2, at the UCF Softball Complex.
Anna Soles collected her 13th multi-hit game of the season, including her ninth home run of the year, but a four-run third inning was enough to propel the host Knights to a victory over the Jayhawks.
Kansas fell to 29-15, while UCF improved to 35-11-1. Game three of the series is set for Sunday at 10 a.m. CT and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
How It Happened | vs. UCF
- In the bottom of the first, UCF catcher Beth Damon gave the Knights an early 1-0 lead with an RBI single to right-center field.Â
- The Kansas bats were able to immediately respond in the top of the second with singles from Kadence Stafford and Aynslee Linduff. Ava Wallace tied the game 1-1 with an RBI fielder's choice, driving in Stafford from third.Â
- In the bottom of the second, catcher Ella Boyer threw out a UCF runner trying to steal second base, eliminating the UCF threat and ending the inning.Â
- UCF broke the tie in the bottom of the third with a solo home run from shortstop Aubrey Evans. The Knights' bats didn't stop there as they worked two walks and hit a single to load the bases with one out. With the bases loaded, second baseman Sierra Humphreys singled to right field, bringing in one run, and kept the bases loaded with one out. First baseman Ashleigh Griffin then singled off the center field wall, driving in two runs and extending the UCF lead to 5-1.
- Kansas chipped into the UCF lead in the top of the fourth as Soles led the inning off with a home run to right-center field, making the score 5-2.Â
- The Jayhawks threatened in the top of the fifth, putting runners on first and second with one out, but could not capitalize, leaving the score at 5-2.
- UCF extended the lead in the bottom of the fifth when right fielder Kendall Yarnell hit a two-run home run, her second home run of the series. The Knights continued the inning as Macy Miles hit a pinch-hit RBI groundout and designated player Zoe Calvez hit an RBI single, giving UCF a 9-2 lead.Â
- Both teams were quiet in the final two innings, giving UCF a 9-2 win.

- Boyer caught two runners stealing, bringing her total for the season to a team-leading six.
- With the home run in the fourth inning, Soles now has a hit in nine of the last 10 games. The home run was Soles' ninth of the season, third most on the team.Â
