LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Kansas track & field team celebrated its 20 seniors on Saturday, while 15 Jayhawks finished as the top collegiate finisher in their event. Senior
Anthony Meacham set a new school record in the pole vault as Kansas concluded the Rock Chalk Classic at Rock Chalk Park on Saturday.
Saturday served as the team's senior day as the Jayhawks celebrated 20 seniors for their contributions to the team. The group of seniors included

Samantha Whittlesey,
Garrett Wilmes and managers Tareeq Shaaban and Stella Whalen.
Meacham set the school record in the men's pole vault in his final event at Rock Chalk Park by clearing a personal best 5.81 meters to set the school record for a second straight week and maintain the top national mark. The event was one of seven World Athletics Continental Tour Challenger Events, with professionals competing alongside the collegiate athletes.
"It felt pretty good today, the poles felt really good, and I felt good on the runway. I knew it was going to be a very good day," Meacham said. "It feels good to compete against these top level athletes. It pushes me to be better. I always want to beat them, they want to beat me, and it really pushes everyone to compete at a high level."
In the women's pole vault,
Mason Meinershagen picked up her fifth win of the season, also competing in a World Athletics event. Meinershagen cleared 4.50 meters to bring home the win, competing against alumni and other professionals.
"Today was amazing, it's always fun to have a home meet and compete in front of these fans," Meinershagen said. "I got some of my professors out here cheering me on and my family, which was amazing … it's good to go up against pros, we get to push each other which is great for both of us… it was great to get back into rhythm today and I will continue to build from here."
Michael Joseph won both of his final events at home, in both the 400 meters and 4x400 meter relays.
Sky Hagan and
Aaron Merritt both won their hurdle events.
Lillian Harris won the 100 meter dash.
In addition to Joseph's 400 meters win,
Pearl Awanya won the women's 400 meter dash in the women's World Athletics event.
Maureen Chepkirui and
Ian Kipkogei were the top collegiate finishers in the World Athletics 800 meter runs, with Chepkirui setting a new personal best.
Kansas continued in the field, with
Sofia Sluchaninova being the top collegiate finisher in the women's discus, another World Athletics event, with her season best.
Addie Cline and
Dimitrios Antonatos won the shot put sections.
The Jayhawks wrapped up the day with wins in both of the 4x400 meter relays.
"Being able to host a meet like this was super exciting," Kansas head coach
Stanley Redwine said. "For the athletes, anytime you get to compete at home is exciting, and we're excited for them. Hopefully, the fans that we had appreciated what they saw today, and we're just going to keep on getting better… Being able to host the professionals was great because it raises the bar. Being able to compete against a high quality of competition really improves everyone, and so it was great to have them here with the World Athletic events."
