SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – No. 15 Kansas will begin a four-match road streak on Sunday, August 16 at Missouri State at Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium in Springfield, Missouri. The match has been moved up to a 10:30 a.m. CT kickoff due to forecasted heat and will be broadcast on ESPN+.

"We started off the season with a good win, but we want to continue getting better, and that continues on Sunday at Missouri State," Kansas head coach Nate Lie said. "This next stretch of matches will be tough, and we want to start it on a good note."

Kansas (1-0) opened the season on Thursday with a 2-0 shutout win over Utah State at Rock Chalk Park. Midfielder Jillian Gregorski scored her first goal of the season in the 17th minute to take an early lead. She has now scored KU's first goal of the season in three straight years (2024, 2025, 2026). Forward Jordan Rowan iced the game with a goal in the 84th minute to give Kansas the 2-0 win. The Jayhawks have now won three straight season openers.

The Jayhawks are ranked No. 15 in both the United Soccer Coaches (USC) preseason poll and the TopDrawerSoccer (TDS) preseason poll. It is the second straight season in which Kansas has beenranked in the TDS preseason poll. The No. 15 ranking is the highest preseason ranking by USC in program history.

Kansas was picked to finish tied for third in the 2026 Big 12 Preseason Poll, which is voted on by the league's head coaches. The third place spot in the poll is the highest preseason mark for Kansas in program history. The first preseason poll was conducted prior to the 2000 season. The Jayhawks had two players represented on the Preseason All-Big 12 Team, as senior Caroline Castans and junior Jillian Gregorski were selected. Kansas also had two players named to United Soccer Coaches preseason watch lists. Senior Sophie Dawe was named to the goalkeepers watch list and Castans was named to the defenders watch list.

ABOUT MISSOURI STATE
Sunday's match against the Jayhawks will be the Bears' opening match of the 2026 season. In 2025, Missouri State finished the season with a 7-9-4 record, including 2-3-3 in Conference USA play. The Bears advanced to the championship match of the CUSA tournament before falling to Liberty.

KU leads the all-time series against Missouri State 12-1-0, with a 5-0-0 mark in matches played in Springfield. The last matchup came on Aug. 14, 2025 in Lawrence in the season opener. Kansas defeated the Bears 5-2 at Rock Chalk Park.
