LAWRENCE, Kan. – No. 17 Kansas begins a two-match homestand on Sunday, August 30 by hosting the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Junior Jayhawks Day at Rock Chalk Park. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. CT, and will be broadcast on ESPN+.

"We were disappointed with the result on Thursday, but the biggest thing now is how we respond," Kansas head coach Nate Lie said. "We've got to learn from that performance, turn the page and come out with a lot of energy against Tulsa. They're a good team, and it's going to take focus, discipline and a complete effort from us to get the result we want."

Kansas (3-2) suffered its second defeat of the season on Thursday in a 2-1 loss at Utah Valley. Jillian Gregorski scored her fourth goal of the season early in the match to give Kansas a 1-0 lead. The Jayhawks then surrendered two goals to the Wolverines, and were unable to equalize.

Senior defender Caroline Castans was named to the 2026 Women's Hermann Trophy Watch List, the United Soccer Coaches announced on Aug. 26. It is the second straight season that Castans has been named to the preseason watchlist. The Hermann Trophy is presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club and is the nation's highest individual honor recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by voting of Division I head coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches.

The Jayhawks remained in the top 20 in both national rankings this week, coming in at No. 17 in the Intercollegiate Women's Soccer Organization for Coaches (IWSOC) poll and No. 14 in the TopDrawerSoccer poll. Kansas has now been ranked inside the top 20 of the IWSOC rankings for three-consecutive weeks for the first time since 2019. Last week, the Jayhawks were ranked No. 12 in the poll, which is the program's highest ranking under Lie, who is in his third season at KU. Kansas is in a three-way tie for No. 17 with UCLA and Georgia.

ABOUT TULSA
Tulsa enters the weekend with a 3-1 record after falling to Oklahoma on Aug. 27. The Golden Hurricane have picked up wins over Central Arkansas, Stephen F. Austin, and Little Rock this year. The team was picked to finish fifth in the American Conference Preseason Poll. Aniya Facen leads Tulsa with a goal and three assists, totaling five points this season.

SERIES HISTORY
Tulsa owns the all-time series 3-2-1 over Kansas, and 2-0-1 in matches played in Lawrence. The last meeting between the teams was a 2-2 draw on Aug. 22, 2024 at Rock Chalk Park. Jillian Gregorski scored a goal in that match.

MATCH PROMOTIONS
Sunday's match will feature Junior Jayhawks Day, Bark in the Park, and the Lawrence Coaches Closet Youth Sports Donation Drive.

For Junior Jayhawks Day, junior Jayhawk members will be able to pick up their Junior Jayhawk membership packs at the match.

Kansas soccer is partnering with the Lawrence Coaches Closet to collect new and gently used youth sports equipment and winter coats. There will be a collection box at the match, and a separate collection box at the Wagnon Student-Athlete Center this coming week.
