BILOXI, Miss. - Kansas Men's Golf wrapped up the second round of the Fallen Oak Invitational at Fallen Oak Golf Club in Biloxi, Mississippi. The Jayhawks sit in eighth place after two days of competition as the team shot 292 (+4) on Sunday.Â
"We played better today but struggled at the end to get a good fourth score." Kansas Head Coach Jamie Bermel said. "Luke (Honner) had a nice comeback round today, and Gunnar (Broin) and Will (King) were very solid again. We need all five guys playing well on Monday to see if we can climb the leaderboard."Â
Graduate senior Gunnar Broin and junior Will King once again led the way for the Jayhawks, as the tandem found themselves in the top 20 after the first two rounds of play.Â
King is the low golfer for the crimson and blue, as he fired off a second-round 71, where he had a stretch of four birdies in five holes. King moved himself to one-under par for the tournament and sits in a tie for 10th place.Â
Broin was able to card four birdies in his Sunday round, coupled with 10 pars, finishing the second round with an even-par 72, keeping him at one-over par for the tournament. After two rounds of the Fallen Oak Invitational, Broin is in a tie for 16th place.
Junior Luke Honner gave the Jayhawks a great bounce-back round, as he carded 12 pars and three birdies to shoot an even-par 72, along with Broin. Honner is eight over for the tournament, good for a tie of 58th place.Â
Sophomores Max Jelinek and Noah Holtzman both sit at ten over par for the tournament and in a tie for 65th place. Jelinek carded a second-round 78, and Holtzman finished one shot ahead of Jelinek with a 77 on Sunday.Â
