LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Kansas Track and Field team will be kicking off their indoor season by hosting the Bob Timmons Challenge on Saturday, December 7 in the Anschutz Sports Pavillion.Â
The Jayhawks will have a total of 31 men and 29 women competing from their side on Saturday. There will also be 10 unattached Kansas men and 11 unattached Kansas women.Â
Of those competing attached, 10 men will compete in a Kansas uniform for the first time in their college careers, while there will be nine women repping the Jayhawks for the first time.Â
Various Big 12 Champions will be in action at Saturday's meet, including
Clayton Simms, who will be opening his indoor season on the pole vault runway. Simms, the 2024 Big 12 Indoor Pole Vault Champion, will be looking to make his fourth-consecutive appearance at the NCAA Indoor National Championship.Â
Other conference champs to catch include 2024 Paris Olympian
Michael Joseph, who is slated to run on the 4x4 for the Jayhawks. 2024 Big 12 Decathlon Champion
Alexander Jung will be pole vaulting, while 2024 Big 12 Men's 600y Champion
Grant Lockwood will also be running the 4x4.Â
On the women's side, Big 12 Indoor Women's Pole Vault Runner-Up
Mason Meinershagen will be pulling double duty, opening her indoor season in both high jump and pole vault. She will be joined at the pole vault pit by
Gabby Hoke,
Avery Brooks and freshman
Madi Snody while
Kade Joslin and freshman
Allyson Dutoit will be competing unattached in the event.Â
