WOLCOTT, Colo. - The Kansas women's golf team came out on top of the 16-team field at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic at Red Sky Golf Club in dominate fashion, shooting a team score of 849 (-15) to win the event by seven strokes.
Kansas' score of 849 marks the second-lowest 54-hole team score in program history. This marks the 30th team title for Kansas and the second under fourth-year head coach
Lindsay Kuhle. Kansas' win at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic marks back-to-back seasons recording a team title. The last time Kansas won a team title in consecutive seasons came during the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons.Â

Boise State (-8) and Pepperdine (-8)Â finished in a tie for second place, while Sacramento State (-2) finished fourth and tournament host Denver (+3) finished fifth to round out the top five.Â

"Today and this whole week we talked about playing with courage, patience, aggressiveness and sticking to our course management and our game plan," said Kuhle. "We were really sure off the tee and with our approach with distance and direction. We also made a lot of putts."

Senior
Lily Hirst led the way for the Jayhawks this week after posting a final score of -7 (68-70-71), finishing inside the top five in a tie for fourth. This is Hirst's second career top-five finish and first of the season.

Seniors Johana Ebner and
Jordan Rothman were both able to put together impressive performances this week. Ebner finished tied for eighth place with a score of -4 (73-68-71), marking the fourth time in her career with a top-10 finish. Rothman finished tied for 14th with a final score of -1 (76-67-72), notching a finish inside of the top 20 for the 14th time in her career.Â

Lauren Clark bounced back with an under par round in the final round of the event, shooting a one-under 71. Clark finished the tournament at +11 (77-75-71) and tied for 60th place.Â

"It was a total team effort this week," said Kuhle. "Johanna, Jordan and Lily were consistent all week, and
Lauren Clark stepped up with a 71 today."Â

Junior
Amy DeKock carded three birdies and finished with a 71 (-1) in Wednesday's final round. DeKock finished T11 and posted a -2 (71-72-71) for the week. This is DeKock's sixth career top-20 finish in seven starts.Â

Sophomore
Lyla Louderbaugh and junior
Ruth Toennessen competed this week as individuals. Louderbaugh finished with a score of E (74-71-71) and tied for 18th place individually. This marks Louderbaugh's fourth time inside the top 20 in her career. Toennessen was able to post a score of +13 (77-73-79) and finished tied for 64th place.Â

"We have ten girls that can go low and contribute to this team, which really makes us all better," Kuhle said. "We will appreciate this win because of hard work. I'm proud of the girls and Coach Bidne. It was a total team effort."
