SUPERSTITION MOUNTAIN, Ariz. — The 24th-ranked Kansas women's golf program won their fourth-straight team title at the Match in the Desert in Superstition Mountain, Arizona on Monday. The Jayhawks were led by senior
Lily Hirst, who won her first collegiate event, while every other Jayhawk finished inside the top 20.
With Kansas' fourth team title of 2024-25, Kansas head coach
Lindsay Kuhle now holds the program record for most team titles in a single season, passing former head coach Erin O'Neil, who led Kansas to three wins during the 2012-13 season.
Arizona State finished in second place at +5, followed by Texas A&M (+7), Purdue (+11) and San Jose State (+12) who rounded out the top 5.
"Just a great effort today," said Kuhle. "We did a really good job with our preparation the last couple weeks. All nine girls have been working really hard and are always fun to coach. I'm really proud of the effort that they put in and the preparation they did this week."
Hirst led the way for the Jayhawks firing a 69 (-3) and earning her first collegiate victory. Hirst was able to card four birdies on the front nine and put together a flawless back nine that included nine straight pars.
"So proud of Lily for winning her first college tournament," Kuhle added. "This course had firm and fast greens and you had to play smart and keep the ball in the correct positions and they did that. Lily got off to a four-under start and then shot 69 to win. She had a great week of preparation."
Senior
Lauren Clark also put together a very consistent day that included three birdies. Clark finished with a score of 72 (E) and finished tied for 5th individually, giving Clark the first top 5 finish of her collegiate career.
Senior
Johanna Ebner and junior
Amy DeKock had big contributions to the Jayhawks as well, as both finished inside the top 15. Ebner knocked in an eagle on the back nine and shot a 74 (+2) to finish tied for 11th, while DeKock fired a 75 (+3) and finished tied for 15th.
Sophomore
Lyla Louderbaugh finished with a score of 76 (+4) and tied for 20th. This is Louderbaugh's third time this season finishing inside the top 20 and sixth time in her career.
Kansas also traveled with a B squad, which was made up of juniors
Anna Wallin,
Ruth Toennessen, and freshmen
Ebba Nordstedt and
Lauren Madson, who finished in eighth place at +23. Nordstedt led the way for Kansas B in her Jayhawk debut, finishing T11 after a round of 74 (+2). Toennessen also found herself in the top 20, finishing T15 at +3.
