LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas women's swimming and diving team is celebrating the 50-year anniversary of the program on Friday, Feb. 7, while hosting Iowa State in a dual meet beginning at 3 p.m. CT in Robinson Natatorium.
"We always look forward to ending the dual meet season each year with Iowa State," said Kansas head coach Clark Campbell. "Our meet goes back to the mid 1970s and is one of the oldest continuous rivalries in our sport nationwide. We'll both have a strong meet as final prep for the championship season."
The final dual meet of Kansas' season follows a 171-128 loss at Arkansas on Jan. 24. The Jayhawks hold a 2-4 dual meet record this season and are looking to build momentum heading into the Big 12 Championship, which is set for Feb. 25-March 1.
It's the second time this season the Jayhawks and the Cyclones are facing off after previously meeting in late November during the Hawkeye Invitational. Kansas secured sixth place at the event and finished two spots ahead of Iowa State, who landed in eighth.
PROMOTIONS
Along with the 50-year celebration, the meet will highlight National Girls and Women in Sports Day and also act as Kansas' "One Team" event. Marketing will provide a table with giveaway items located outside of the pool entrance for fans to interact with.
