TULSA, Okla. –  The Kansas men's golf team remains in 11th place following Wednesday's third round of the Big 12 Championship at Southern Hills Country Club.
"We played a little better today but had a couple costly mental errors and we paid dearly," said Kansas head coach Jamie Bermel. "I thought we looked a little worn out mentally more than physically. We seem to be trying too hard and need to just relax and play golf. We need to post a good round on Thursday and get some momentum going into NCAA Regionals."
The Jayhawks posted their best team round of the tournament on Wednesday, shooting a 292 (+12) in round three of the Big 12 Championship at Southern Hills Country Club. With one round remaining, Kansas sits in 11th place at +44 heading into Thursday's final round.
Gunnar Broin led the way for Kansas, bouncing back from a tough opening round to climb four spots on the leaderboard. Broin carded a 72 (+2), highlighted by 11 pars and three birdies.
Luke Honner and Will King each fired rounds of 73 (+3). Honner closed strong, notching three birdies over his final five holes to steady his round. King got off to a hot start, birdieing two of his first four holes and finishing the front nine at even-par 35. He added two more birdies on the back nine en route to his three-over round.
Freshman Ty Lasley continued his steady play, recording 12 pars—including eight on his first nine holes—to post a 74 (+4). Lasley sits at 13-over for the tournament.
Noah Holtzman stepped in for Max Jelinek on Wednesday and shot a 76 (+6), with identical 38s on both the front and back nine.
