Turned pro after a senior season that saw Gilbert qualify for an individual berth into the 2013 NCAA Tournament. Narrowly missed qualifying out of regional play. Currently competing on the Adams Pro Golf Tour.
Senior (2012-13): Birdied his final collegiate hole and posted a top-10 finish at the NCAA Fayetteville Regional, narrowly missing qualifying for the 2013 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship… Was five strokes off the lead shooting 73-72-73–218 (+2) at Belssings GC… Closed his season with a 72.02 scoring average, the third-best by a Kansas golfer since the current records started in the mid-1980s… Finished tied for the lead in two events – the first two tournament wins of his collegiate career… First career win was at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate where he shot back-to-back rounds of 68 (-3) en route to finishing 8-under and tied for first to close fall play… Finished his spring season with a bang as well, carding another 68 (-4) in the middle of the Hawkeye Invitational while posting a 5-under 211 and another tie for individual medalist honors… Posted six top-10 finishes during the 2012-13 campaign and logged seven rounds in the 60s… Finished tied for 10th at the 2013 Big 12 Championship at Prairie Dunes CC in Hutchinson, Kan., to earn Big 12 All-Tournament team honors… Was selected to the 2013 Ping All-Region Team.
Junior (2011-12): Led the Jayhawks in scoring average with a 72.92 average round… Competed in 12 events with his best finish being a tie for fifth at the Cowboy Classic… Shot rounds of 66 at the beginning and closing round of the Cowboy Classic, which tied him for the team lead with Alex Gutesha… Shot a 54-hole tournament team low with a 202 at the Cowboy Classic… Recorded four top ten -finishes and five top-15 finishes, which were both team highs… Led or placed second in the team in scoring at every tournament.
Sophomore (2010-11): Led the team in scoring average with a 73.57 average round… Competed in 12 events with his best finish being a tie for seventh at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate as part of the Jayhawks’ first tournament title under head coach Kit Grove… Shot the lowest round of any KU golfer during the season with a 65 in the final round of the Herb Wimblery Intercollegiate… Posted six top-15 finishes, including 14th place at the Big 12 Championship… Recorded top-25 finishes at every event except for the National Invitational, where he finished tied for 26th… Fired two sub-70 rounds, a 68 and a 67, at the Border Olympics to tie for 11th.
Freshman (2009-10): Competed in all 12 events and ranked third on the team in scoring average amongst major contributors with a 76.03 average … Contributed one top-10 and four top-20 finishes … Tied for 14th at the Fairway Club Invitational in his first-career start … Shot a 154 at the rain-shortened Jim Colbert Intercollegiate to tie for 25th … Tied for 14th at the Kansas Invitational … Wrapped up fall campaign by tying for 50th at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate and tying for 59th at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate … Recorded top-20 finish at the Squire Creek Invitational while competing as an individual …. Fired his best round of the season with a 68 to propel himself to his season-best ninth place finish at the Missouri Intercollegiate … Shot a 299 over the four-round Big 12 Championship to tie for 34th.
High School: Attended Royal High School for the last two years of high school, after moving from North Carolina …. Played for head coach Bob Misko … Earned three letters, earning All-Conference honors in each season … Helped lead team to 2008 Conference Championship … As a senior, placed second in the Marmonte League Conference Tournament … Qualified for the 2008 US Junior … Won twice in the Southern California PGA Toyota Tour Cup Series … Recorded three top-five finishes in Future Collegian World Tour events … Named Honorable Mention on the FWCT All-American Team.
