
Kansas Finishes Eighth at Bearcat Invitational

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Kansas men's golf team finished in eighth place at the Bearcat Invitational, played at the Coldstream Country Club in Cincinnati, Ohio on Monday and Tuesday. The Jayhawks finished the tournament with scores of 288-281-285 (+6).Â
Tournament host Cincinnati led the way with a score of 834 (-18), followed by Little Rock (-7), Nebraska (-1), Arkansas (-1), and Louisville (+1), who rounded out the top five.
"We just played very average this week,"Â Kansas coach Jamie Bermel said following the event. "We couldn't really get a lot going and our patience wasn't very good on the greens. We need to regroup and get ready for Northwestern's event in two weeks."
Senior Luke Honner led the way for the Jayhawks with scores of 71-71-71 (E) as he tied for 24th place individually. Honner carded eight birdies and put together a bogey-less back nine in his opening round on Monday.
Sophomore Ty Lasley finished with scores of 73-68-74 (+2) and tied for 35th place. Lasley's tournament was highlighted by his second round, where he rattled off five birdies and led the team in scoring with a 68 (-3).
Senior Will King ended the tournament with rounds of 71-73-72 (+3) and tied for 39th place. King led the team with 10 birdies and carded an eagle on the 559-yard par-five fourth hole during his second round.
Freshman Arthur Carlier fired rounds of 76-71-71 (+5) and tied for 49th place individually. After a rough start in the opening round on Monday, Carlier carded a bogeyless back nine on round two and finished the tournament with back-to-back rounds at even par.Â
Sophomore Hartej Grewal competed in his first tournament of the season at the Bearcat Invitational, where he finished with scores of 74-71-75 (+7) and tied for 62nd place.

Kansas is set to travel to Lake Forrest, Illinois, to compete in the Windom Memorial Classic on Sept. 29-30.Â
