Lai Sets Single-Season School Record with Fourth Big 12 Diver of the Week Award

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas standout sophomore diver Shiyun Lai earned a program-record fourth Big 12 Diver of the Week honor this season, the conference office announced on Wednesday.Â
Lai has been tabbed Big 12 Diver of the Week after capturing first place in the 3m diving event in Kansas' recent dual meet at Arkansas on Jan. 24, posting an impressive score of 340.05. Later in the meet, Lai secured a second-place finish in the 1m event with a score of 309.53.Â
Lai now holds the single season program record for Big 12 weekly awards, passing three-time Big 12 Champion Kate Steward, who racked up three Big 12 weekly awards during the 2021-22 season.Â

The Jayhawks will host Big 12 rival Iowa State on Friday, Feb. 7, at Robinson Natatorium, with action starting at 3 p.m. CT. The meet will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Kansas Women's Swimming and Diving and recognize National Girls and Women in Sports Day.Â
