DANIEL ISLAND, S.C.– The Kansas men's golf team is set to travel to Daniel Island, South Carolina, to compete in the Bryson Invitational at the Ralston Creek Golf Course from Oct. 13-15th.
South Carolina hosts the 15-team field that features Kansas competing alongside Duke, BYU, Liberty, Houston, Wisconsin, Cincinnati, Charleston, Vanderbilt, Seton Hall, Wake Forest, Charlotte, TCU and Wofford.
Kansas coach Jamie Bermel will travel with a lineup of seniors Will King and Luke Honner, sophomores Ty Lasley and Hartej Grewal, and freshman Arthur Carlier. Coach Bermel will also bring junior Will King, who will compete as an individual.
"We are excited about the next event and the chance to compete at a really good golf course against a very competitive field." Coach Bermel said, "There will be different types of grass than what we have been playing on the first three events, so we will need to adjust and adapt quickly."
The Jayhawks are coming off a tie for sixth place at the Windon Memorial Classic, played on Sept. 29-30 in Lake Forest, Illinois. Grewal led the way for the Jayhawks, securing a second-place finish after carding rounds of 68-66-72 to finish 10-under par at the event.
Carlier, the freshman from Soissons, France, has put together an impressive start to his collegiate career. He is currently carrying a scoring average of 71.8 and has secured one top 10 finish on the season.Â
Seniors King and Honner have been consistent pieces for the Jayhawks to start the year. King is carrying a scoring average of 71.7, has a low 54-hole score of 214, and has recorded one finish inside the top 10. Honner, on the other hand, is carrying a scoring average of 72.0, has recorded one round in the 60s, and has one top 20 finish on the year.
Lasley is coming off his best round of the season after he carded scores of 72-70-72 (E) and tied for 38th place at the Windon Memorial Classic. Lasley is currently carrying a scoring average of 72.6 through three events this season.Â
Baker, who will be competing as an individual, is set to compete in his second event as a Jayhawk. He competed in the season-opener for the Jayhawks at the Folds of Honor Collegiate, where he finished with scores of 72-82-75 (+16) and tied for 63rd place.Â
