Three Jayhawks Finish in Top 20 in Omaha

OMAHA – The Kansas women's golf team sent three individuals to Omaha, Nebraska to compete in the Big O Classic at the Oak Hills Country Club.Â
Katie Ruge from Omaha won the tournament with a score of 213 (-3), followed by Emily Karmazin of Omaha (+4), Zoe Pinillos of Kansas (+8), Andrea Chin of Idaho State (+9), and Sarah Lasso of Omaha (+9) to round out the top five.Â
Freshman Maireke Ebens finished the tournament with scores of 78-74-74 (+10) and carded nine birdies over three rounds. Ebens secured her first top-10 finish of her career and finished in sixth place individually at the Big O Classic.Â
Sophomore Jillian Fatkin shot rounds of 77-80-78 (+19) and tied for 14th place in the 56-golfer field.

The Kansas women's golf team will travel to Lihue, Hawaii to compete in the Rainbow Wahine Invitational at The Ocean Course at Hokuala from Oct. 20-22.Â
"Overall, this was a nice event to come to and give three of our players some great experience for us to build upon for the rest of the season. It was fun to see Zoe play well the first two rounds and be in contention to win going into the final day today." Assistant coach Stephen Bidne said, "It was also really encouraging for Marieke who has put in a lot of work to play very solid the whole tournament and post two good last two rounds. Jillian did a great job fighting out there too and all three finished in the top 15 which was good."
Pinillos, a redshirt sophomore, led the way for the Jayhawks and finished the tournament carding three birdies. Pinillos scored rounds of 73-74-77 (+8). Her third-place finish was the lowest for Pinillos this season. Â
