LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas soccer dropped a 2-1 heartbreaker to No. 11 Colorado on Senior Night on Thursday evening at Rock Chalk Park.
Jillian Gregorski netted her eighth goal of the season and
Caroline Castans picked up her team-leading 10th assist of the year despite the loss.

Kansas fell to 12-4-3 (6-4-1 in Big 12 play) on the season and the Jayhawks moved to 6-3-2 at home. KU will compete in the Big 12 Tournament starting on Monday, Nov. 3.

"I thought we largely controlled the game," Kansas head coach Nate Lie said. "We had better chances and had a good amount of opportunities, not a ton of clean opportunities, but it felt like we were close the whole time."
Lie continued, "It was a great job on the goal. It was a great corner kick as Jill (Gregorski) got on the end of it, a resounding header. I thought we played for the most part a decent game, but we have to figure out how to come out of the gates a little better."

Colorado struck first, as Hope Leyba took a pass from the right side of the field by Emerson Layne and scored the first goal to give the Buffaloes a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute of the match.
Kansas went into the half trailing 1-0, but held a 11-5 shot advantage over Colorado.
In the 81st minute, Kansas drew a corner kick. Castans took the kick and fired it into the middle of the box where Gregorski was able to get her head on it to find the back of the net to tie the match 1-1.
Colorado (14-2-3, 8-1-2 Big 12) then drew a free kick at the top of the box in the 86th minute. Reagan Kotschau lined up for the kick and fired a strike to the left side of the goal barely getting by Sophie Dawe to put the Buffaloes up 2-1 with a little over three minutes to play.
Kansas was unable to get another shot in the match. Despite the defeat, Kansas outshot Colorado 22-9 and held a 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.
