Jamie Bermel has announced the signing of Hartej Grewal, a transfer from UC Riverside who will join the Jayhawks as a sophomore for the 2025-26 season.
"We are very pleased to have Hartej join the team," Bermel said. "He brings a lot of experience to the program and immediately adds depth to the team. He played every event last year at UC Riverside, so he has plenty of Division I experience."
The Big West Freshman of the Year, Grewal led UC Riverside with a 71.6 stroke average across 33 rounds and 11 tournaments. His scores counting during 97 percent of the team's rounds during the 2024-25 season. Grewal delivered four top 10 finishes, including a third-place mark at the Seattle Redhawk Invitational as he led the Highlanders to the team championship of the event. He also placed eighth at the Van Harte OC Collegiate Classic as he helped UC Riverside to a runner-up team finish.
Grewal was also named to the All-Big West Second Team, becoming Riverside's first All-Big West First or Second Team selection since 2018. He was the Highlanders top performer in seven events and shot a career-best round of 67 (-5) in the second round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate. Grewal matched that mark with a 67 in the final round of the Big West Championship.
From Pleasanton, California, Grewal was a two-year varsity golfer at Amador Valley High School, where he was a two-time all-league, all-region and all-area selection. He was the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Junior at Copper Valley champion in 2024 and had four top 10 AJGA finishes in 2023. Grewal also had five top five finishes on the Junior Tour of Northern California (JTNC) from May-October 2023.
Grewal becomes KU's second signing for the 2025-26 season, joining freshman Arthur Carlier of Soissons, France, who signed in November.
