
Jayhawks Set to Compete in Windom Memorial Classic

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Kansas men's golf team is set to travel to Lake Forest, Illinois, to compete in the Windom Memorial Classic at the Knollwood Club from Sept. 29-30. The Jayhawks are coming off an eighth-place finish at the Bearcat Invitational two weeks ago.
Kansas will play the first two rounds, a total of 36 holes, on Monday in a shotgun start format. The tournament will conclude with the final 18 holes on Tuesday.Â
Northwestern is hosting the 16-team field that includes East Tennessee State, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Marquette, Michigan State, Minnesota, New Mexico, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oral Roberts, Purdue, SMU, South Florida, and UC Davis.
Head coach Jamie Bermel will travel with a lineup of seniors Luke Honner, Will King, sophomores Ty Lasley, Hartej Grewal, and freshman Arthur Carlier.Â
The Jayhawks are led by seniors Honner and King. Honner is coming off back-to-back top 25 finishes at the Folds of Honor Collegiate and the Bearcat Invitational. He is currently carrying a scoring average of 71.7 through six rounds and has recorded one round in the 60's. King, on the other hand, has the top individual finish this season for the Jayhawks, with a tie for seventh at the Folds of Honor Collegiate.
Lasley and Carlier have both competed in both events for the Jayhawks. Lasley is coming off his best finish last week in the Bearcat Invitational, where he finished tied for 33rd place at 2-over. Carlier has put together a good start to his freshman campaign, carrying a scoring average of 72.0 over six rounds.Â
Grewal competed in his first event as a Jayhawk last week at the Bearcat Invitational. Grewal tied for 60th place and finished the event at 7-over.
