PEORIA, Ariz. – The Kansas women's golf team defended their title at the Wisconsin Westbrook on Tuesday, posting a team score of 825 (-39), the second-lowest team 54-hole score in program history.
Senior
Lauren Clark earned medalist honors on the individual side, claiming her second-straight individual title after firing rounds of 67-65-67 (-17) and setting a new Kansas 54-hole individual record.
The Jayhawks now have five team titles and three individual medalists in 2024-25 under head coach
Lindsay Kuhle.
"We played great, consistent golf," Kuhle said at the conclusion of the final round. "Lauren's five under for her to win two tournaments in a row is remarkable. She's probably one of the best college golfers in the country right now with the way she's playing, but she really helped us win this event."
Kansas led the way with a score of -39, followed by UNLV (-30), Kansas State (-24), Louisiana Monroe (-10) and tournament host Wisconsin (-10) to round out the top five of the standings.
"UNLV played great today and gave us a run for sure," Kuhle added. "We had to dig deep and keep our foot on the gas pedal, that's kind of been our motto all week. Not being afraid of going lower and lower, and staying low, and that's exactly what the girls did today."
Clark finished the third and final round carding five birdies and on her way to a 67 (-5). Clark ended the tournament with a career-low 54-hole score of 199 (-17), which gives her the lowest 54-hole individual score in program history. After Clark's second tournament win, she becomes just the third Jayhawk in program history to win back-to-back tournaments (Holly Reynolds and Yupaporn Kawinpakorn).
Junior
Amy DeKock got her second top 5 finish of the year after posting scores of 66-70-69 (-11) and finished in 4th place individually. DeKock cardred four birdies en route to her final round score of 69 (-3).
Freshman
Ebba Nordstedt posted a 71 (-1) on Monday, including three birdies and a hole-in-one on the 183-yard par three. Nordstedt ended the tournament with scores of 69-71-71 (-5) and finished tied for 16th place, giving Nordstedt her third top 20 finish in three events.
Senior
Lily Hirst finished the tournament with scores of 70-73-68 (-5) and finished tied for 16th place. This is Hirst's fifth top 20 finish of the year, and 12th top 20 finish of her career.
Senior
Johanna Ebner posted three birdies on her way to shooting a 71 (-1) in the final round of the tournament. Ebner ended with scores of 71-72-71 (-2) and finished tied for 30th place.
"It's really cool to have six players finish under par, it speaks to this team's depth," said Kuhle. "This team is very focused, very driven and really serious about our vision this year of making the national championship and competing for championships."
Sophomore
Lyla Louderbaugh, who competed as an individual, finished her tournament with scores of 71-73-68 (-4). Louderbaugh finished tied for 19th place, making it her fourth time this season finishing inside the top 20, and seventh of her career.
"Our facilities at KU and at the Jayhawk Club help us prepare in the winter time for tournaments like this," Kuhle added. "We have a great facility to work on our chipping, putting, wedges, and our ball striking. That's why we came out ready, because of our preparation in our facilities. We are so grateful for the facilities we have and the hard workers we have."
