LAWRENCE, Kan. - Kansas women's tennis was represented by multiple Jayhawks on the 2025-26 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) preseason rankings, the organization announced August 26. Included is
Kyoka Kubo in singles, Kubo and
Heike Janse van Vuuren in doubles and
Sandugash Kenzhibayeva and
Meg McCarty also in doubles.Â

Kubo is ranked No. 103 in singles, while her duo with Van Vuuren are No. 20 in doubles. The duo of Kenzhibayeva and McCarty are ranked No. 85 in doubles.Â

Kubo, from Yokohama, Japan, finished the 2024-25 season 15-6 at No. 3 singles, including a postseason win over Yun-Chin Tsai of TCU. In doubles, Kubo finished the season 12-9 with partners
Jasmine Adams in the No. 2 slot and
Anna Putilina in the No. 3 slot. Kubo was named to the 2025 All Big-12 Second Team in singles and the 2025 CSC Academic All-District Team.Â

Van Vuuren, from George, South Africa, finished the 2024-25 season at 12-6 in singles at the No. 4 slot. In doubles, Van Vuuren finished ranked 29th in the country at 14-8 in the No. 1 slot with partner
Gracie Mulville. Last season, the duo picked up four ranked wins including one over #9 Texas Tech in the Big 12 Tournament.Â

McCarty, from Bozeman, Montana, finished the 2024-25 season at Montana State with a 24-8 singles record and a 26-6 doubles record. McCarty was ranked as high as No. 42 in doubles rankings last season.

Kenzhibayeva, from Astana, Kazakhstan, is a newcomer to the Kansas women's tennis program.Â
