GRAND HAVEN, Mich. – The Kansas women's golf team is set to travel to Grand Haven, Michigan to compete in the Folds of Honor Collegiate at American Dunes Golf Club from September 8-10. Kansas is coming off a second place finish at the Jayhawk Invitational in their opening tournament of the season.Â
Michigan State and Florida State are co-hosting a 12-team field, which includes Arizona, Baylor, Delaware State, Findlay, Kentucky, Navy, North Carolina, Ohio State, and Texas A&MÂ competing alongside the Jayhawks.Â
Coach Kuhle is traveling with a lineup of seniors Amy DeKock and Anna Wallin, junior Lyla Louderbaugh, sophomore Ebba Nordstedt, and freshman Kinslea Jones.Â
"We can't wait to go back to American Dunes and be invited to such a prestigious event again this year." Head Coach Lindsay Kuhle said. "Last year was incredible. From the golf course, the hospitality, being on the Golf Channel and learning about the Folds of Honor and supporting their cause and meeting former player, Dan Rooney, it was an incredible experience for our team."
The Folds of Honor was founded by former Jayhawk, Lieutenant Colonel Dan Rooney, who played golf at the University of Kansas and dedicated his life to rallying patriotic Americans through the foundation. Since 2007, the organization has provided over 45,000 scholarships to spouses and children of fallen or disabled military.
The 54-hole tournament will take place at the historic American Dunes Golf Club, playing 7,128 yards at a par 72. The course is highlighted by the 594-yard par-five 13th, followed behind by hole 15, a challenging 220-yard par 3. Designed by legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus, the property is located on the east shore of Lake Michigan and is covered with sand and various obstacles throughout the course.Â
DeKock is coming off an impressive performance, securing her first career collegiate victory at the Jayhawk Invitational a week ago. DeKock fired scores of 74-73-73 (+3) in the event.Â
Wallin and Louderbaugh are both coming off top 10 finishes from the Jayhawk Invitational as well. Louderbaugh finished tied for third with scores of 74-73-74 (+5), while Wallin tied for seventh with scores of 75-73-75 (+7).Â
Jones put together an impressive tournament in her first collegiate event, finishing inside the top 20 with scores of 74-76-79 (+13).Â
This will be Nordstedt's first event of the 2025-26 season. The sophomore competed in eight events last season and carried a scoring average of 72.7 over 22 rounds. Â
"Coach Bidne and I are very excited to compete in this strong field with a strong KU line up of Amy DeKock, who won our last event, Lyla Louderbaugh, who is playing great golf and was recently a semi-finalist in the US Women's Amateur, Kinslea Jones, a freshman from Wichita, Kansas who is a long ball striker and can go low with her score, Ebba Nordstedt from Sweden who had a great last spring season for us, and Anna Wallin who finished in the top 10 of our home event." Kuhle said.
