LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas softball continues Big 12 play on the road as the Jayhawks travel to face BYU in a three-game series from Thursday, March 26, through Saturday, March 28 at Miller Park.
Kansas (23-9, 4-2 Big 12) enters the series with momentum after securing its second conference series win of the season, already surpassing last year's total. The Jayhawks are coming off a strong stretch that includes a series win over Utah, where Kansas handed the Utes their first Big 12 loss and first road loss of the season. Over the three games, Kansas combined for 18 runs on 24 hits
"We've continued to see growth from this group in conference play," head coach Jennifer McFalls said. "Going on the road in the Big 12 is always a challenge, and BYU is a team that will compete. We need to stay disciplined offensively, trust our pitching, and bring energy from the first pitch to the last."
Kansas has been one of the most productive offenses in the conference, ranking near the top of the Big 12 in multiple categories, including a .365 team batting average and 57 home runs, while also leading the league in doubles. The Jayhawks' power and depth have been key, with multiple players contributing throughout the lineup.
Junior Kadence Stafford led the way in the Utah series finale, going 2-for-3 with five RBIs, securing a career high. Players like Ella Boyer, Hailey Cripe, and Aynslee Linduff continue to provide consistent offensive production, while the pitching staff, led by Kaelee Washington and Chloe Barber, has helped stabilize play in conference matchups.
BYU enters the series at 9-20 overall and 1-5 in Big 12 play. Kansas leads the all-time series 7-5, despite dropping the most recent matchup in 2024, when the Jayhawks were swept in a three-game series in Lawrence. Before that, Kansas had won four straight meetings against BYU and has historically found success away from home against the Cougars. This weekend marks a rare trip to Provo, as most previous matchups between the two programs have been at neutral sites.
