ST. PAUL, Minn. -Â Kansas rowing is set to travel north for the Minnesota Invite on Lake Phalen on Saturday, May 2. The event will close out KU's regular season as the Jayhawks face Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa beginning at 8 a.m. CT.
Kansas will compete in the Minnesota Invite for the first time on Saturday.Â
"We are excited to go race in a new venue against great competition from the Big 10," said head coach
Andrew Derrick. "When I heard about this race, I knew it was a great fit for us this year as we need to continue to grow in our ability to show up and race well no matter the opponent or surroundings. If we do, I think we can have a good and very valuable weekend before heading into finals and the Big 12 championships. I'm excited to watch the team step up once again."
The Jayhawks are coming off a tenth-place finish at the highly competitive Lake Wheeler Invite, earning nine top five placements, and highlighted by a second place showing for the III Eight boat, crossing the finish line just two second behind No. 13 Duke.
The morning session of the regatta with have two heats for each individual race, with boats taking off from the docks 15 minutes apart. The afternoon session will have heats launching at the same time for each race event.
