Get to Know Vittoria
Why Did You Choose KU?
I chose KU because I fell in love with the atmosphere, the people and the opportunity to be part of the rowing team. Coming from Italy, I was looking for a place where I could have a meaningful college experience while challenging myself both academically and athletically. KU felt like the perfect fit, offering a strong sense of community and the opportunity to grow both on and off the water.
How Did You Get Introduced to Rowing?
Rowing is pretty popular in Italy, and there are some really strong teams there. I had never seriously considered trying it myself until I met some friends who were already at KU. They shared how much they loved rowing and being part of the team, which inspired me to give it a try.
Favorite Thing to Do in Lawrence?
My favorite things to do in Lawrence are spending time with my teammates and friends and going to basketball games.
Favorite Pre-Race Tradition
I like to listen to music, focus and get myself in the right mindset before competing.
Personal Details
Sports have always been a big part of my family. My older sister played volleyball in college, my dad is a tennis player who placed third in the Italian Championships, and my mom was a swimmer. A fun fact about me is that I lived with a host family for two years through a cultural exchange program. Even more special, my host grandmother attended KU!
High School Achievements/Accolades
- Won the Best Talent Award in a dance competition.
- Reached the semifinals with my high school cheerleading team.
