FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – The Kansas women's swimming and diving team kicked off the 2025 Big 12 Women's Swimming and Diving Championships on Tuesday at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Washington.
Day one of the Big 12 Championships consisted of time trials in the morning and three women's finals, including the 200 medley relay, the 800 freestyle relay and women's team diving.
"We had a solid start and we're looking forward to starting the individual events tomorrow," said Kansas head coach
Clark Campbell.
The championships opened with the 200 medley relay, where the Kansas team of
Lezli Sisung,
Ryan Johnston,
Lydia Lafferty and
Caroline Blake secured an eighth-place finish with a time of 1:39.33.
The Jayhawks wrapped up their day in the lanes with a ninth-place finish in the 800 freestyle relay.
Eleni Kotzamanis,
Gabi Dyer,
Hailey Farrell and
Tait Haag recorded a time of 7:19.56, highlighted by Kotzamanis' lifetime-best 1:48.45 in the opening 200.
ON THE BOARDS
Shiyun Lai,
Lize van Leeuwen and
Grace Zifcak made up the fifth-place squad in the women team diving event. The trio combined for a score of 267.45 Tuesday evening.
