
Kansas Falls at Arkansas Friday Afternoon, 171-128

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Kansas swimming and diving team concluded its dual meet with Arkansas on Friday, falling to the Razorbacks 171-128 at the Arkansas Natatorium.
"This was one of our better Arkansas dual meets, " Head Coach Clark Campbell said. "The team met the challenge and competed very well. We have good energy heading into the championship season."
The meet began with the 200-medley relay, where the Jayhawks secured a second-place finish. The team of Lezli Sisung, Ryan Johnston, Lydia Lafferty, and Caroline Blake clocked a time of 1:40.78, putting Kansas on the board early.
Addi Barnes contributed next for the Jayhawks, earning a third-place finish in the 1,000 free with a time of 10:28.06. Eleni Kotzamanis followed with a strong performance in the 200 free, finishing second with a time of 1:49.52.
Sisung claimed Kansas' first individual victory of the day, winning the 100 back with a time of 54.56. Lafferty was close behind, finishing second in 55.29.
Johnston led Kansas in the 100 breast, taking second place with a time of 1:02.48. Hailey Farrell followed with a second-place finish in the 200 fly at 2:03.10. In the 50 free, Blake secured second place with a time of 23.60, while teammate Claire Hyatt finished third at 23.73.
In the 100 free, Kotzamanis recorded another second-place finish with a time of 51.24. Bradie Ward brought home Kansas' next win, finishing first in the 200 back with a time of 1:59.35.
Kansas dominated the 200 breast, sweeping the podium. Johnston led the way with a winning time of 2:16.27, followed by Aidan Howze in second (2:17.93) and Molly Robinson in third (2:18.38).
In the 500 free, Gabi Dyer finished third with a time of 4:55.89. Lafferty then earned second in the 100 fly (54.41), with Anna Gearhart close behind in third (54.52).
Farrell added more points for Kansas with a second-place finish in the 200 IM, clocking a time of 2:04.67. The meet concluded with the 400 free relay, where the team of Blake, Izzy Satterlee, Ellie Howe, and Kotzamanis finished second in 3:24.18.
ON THE BOARDS
In the 3m diving event, Shiyun Lai captured first place with an impressive score of 340.05. Later in the meet, Lai secured a second-place finish in the 1m event with a score of 309.53. Teammate Lize van Leeuwen followed closely, earning third place in the 1m event with a score of 290.18.

The Jayhawks will host Big 12 rival Iowa State on Friday, Feb. 7, at Robinson Natatorium, with action starting at 3 p.m. CT. The meet will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Kansas Women's Swimming and Diving and recognize National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
