Kansas men rank No. 20 in USTFCCCA week one poll

NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released the first round of its NCAA Division I weekly top-25 poll on Monday, January 22, with the Kansas men’s team ranked at No. 20.
 
Currently, the Jayhawk men’s team has four athletes and one relay team that ranks in the nation’s top-30 in their respective events. Senior Nick Meyer and junior Hussain Al Hizam are tied for 13th in the pole vault (5.35m [17-6.5 ft.]) in NCAA Division I this indoor season, while senior Barden Adams holds the fourth-best mark in the nation in the triple jump at 16.01 meters (52-6.5 ft.). Senior Jaron Hartley sits in 30th in the nation in the 200-meter dash (21.34), and is also a member of the Kansas 4×400-meter relay team that holds the 28th-fastest time in the nation at 3:10.86. Joining Hartley on the relay team are senior Tre Daniels, junior Ivan Henry and sophomore Isaiah Cole.
 
The week one poll comes two weeks after the USTFCCCA released its preseason top-25, where the Jayhawk men were projected at No. 11.
 
The Jayhawks will look to improve on its ranking this week as Kansas hosts the Jayhawk Classic on January 25-26 at Anschutz Sports Pavilion. The meet is slated to begin at 2 p.m. on Thursday, while events scheduled to get started at 9 a.m. Friday morning.
