The Jayhawk Club

The Jayhawk Club

The Jayhawk Club consists of two courses – the Championship Course and the Member’s Course. The Championship Course is home of the Kansas golf teams and is comprised of the Jayhawk and Quail Creek nine-hole courses. Characterized by large Bentgrass greens and flowing fairways, the parkland-style course is known for its unique combination of playability and tests of skill. Members are certain to enjoy the scenic beauty of the course’s natural Eastern Kansas landscaping. Not only will the quality and outstanding condition of the course enhance the golfing experience, so will the overall environment. Challenge and beauty are the hallmarks of The Championship Course.

Knapheide Family Practice Facility

The Kansas golf programs have called the Knapheide Family Practice Facility at Lawrence’s The Jayhawk Club home since 2008 and exciting changes are in the works. The Jayhawks, in partnership with the Williams Education Fund and Treanor Architects, have started the process of raising funds to make the facility nearly five times larger with even more all-weather amenities to help Kansas student-athletes develop their abilities and reach their full potential.

The current practice facility includes four heated hitting bays, one with a V1 video system featuring Trackman radar launch monitoring system to monitor mechanics and track the flight of the ball. The bays are part of a climate-controlled facility that allows the Kansas golfers to hit balls out into the driving range at The Jayhawk Club, regardless of the season.

Currently, each smaller bay is equipped to provide two putting holes along with mirrors that allow golfers to monitor their fundamentals.

Plans call for expanding the facility to more than 5,000 square feet, adding team lounges and locker rooms for both the men’s and women’s teams. The largest addition to the facility will be an indoor chipping and putting area, allowing golfers to fine tune their short game throughout the year. Coach’s offices, a kitchenette, storage and club repair, and a training room will also be added to the facility.
