Kansas will travel to Stillwater, Oklahoma, to play Oklahoma State in an extended inning exhibition on Saturday, Oct. 14 at O’Brate Stadium. The start time has not yet been determined. A week later, Kansas will host Illinois State at Hoglund Ballpark in an extended inning exhibition game at 12 p.m. CT.
After finishing his first season at the helm of the Kansas Baseball program in May, Head Coach Dan Fitzgerald and his staff have had the opportunity to bolster the roster this summer. Fitzgerald and his staff have added eight high-impact transfers and one high school recruit to go along with a strong core of returning players.
The first details of the 2024 Kansas Baseball schedule were released Wednesday, with the Jayhawks set to participate in the Karbach Round Rock Classic in February. The event will take place from Feb. 23-25 at Dell Diamond, home of the Round Rock Express, against Kentucky, Washington State and Texas State.
Kansas first baseman and catcher Cole Elvis has signed a free agent contract with the Minnesota Twins. Elvis transferred to Kansas for the 2023 season to play his final year of college eligibility. He has signed as a catcher with the Twins organization.
Kansas Baseball Assistant Coach/Hitting Coach Tyler Hancock has been elevated to a full-time assistant coach. Hancock will assume additional responsibilities in the role, including travel for recruiting.
Former Kansas catcher and current Philadelphia Phillies manager, Rob Thomson, will manage the 2023 National League All-Star team in Seattle at T-Mobile Park on Tuesday evening. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT and will be televised by FOX.
True freshman second baseman Kodey Shojinaga was named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. Shojinaga, who has already been named as the Big 12 Co-Freshman of the Year, an All-Big 12 Second Team infielder and an unanimous selection to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team, receives the accolade following his rookie campaign.
