Football Professional Round Up: Week Three

LAWRENCE, Kan. – With professional football in full swing at the conclusion of the third week of games in the National Football League Sunday, 12 Jayhawks continue making their mark at the game’s highest level. A weekly recap of how Kansas football players fared in the professional ranks of the National Football League and the Canadian Football League is below.
 
Jon Cornish – Calgary Stampeders (CFL)
In Calgary’s 25-23 victory over Winnipeg on Sept. 25, Cornish ran 16 times for a game-high 94 yards. On the season, Cornish is the Stampeders’ leading rusher with 89 attempts for 460 yards and four scores.
 
Chris Harris – Denver Broncos
Harris and the undefeated Broncos beat the Detroit Lions, 24-12, on Sept. 27. Harris corralled two solo tackles in the victory.
 
Tanner Hawkinson – San Francisco 49ers 
Hawkinson is a member of the 49ers’ practice squad. San Francisco lost 47-7 to the Arizona Cardinals Sept. 27.
 
Ben Heeney – Oakland Raiders
Heeney saw action for Oakland in its 27-20 victory over the Cleveland Browns on Sept. 27, but did not record any statistics.

Steven Johnson – Tennessee Titans 
Johnson saw time in Tennessee’s 35-33 loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Sept. 27, but did not record any statistics.
 
Dexter McDonald – Oakland Raiders
McDonald did not see the field in Oakland’s 27-20 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sept. 27.
 
Bradley McDougald – Tampa Bay Buccaneers 
McDougald wrapped-up a season-high nine tackles on Texans players in Tampa Bay’s 19-9 loss to Houston on Sept. 27.
 
Toben Opurum – New Orleans Saints
Opurum did not see any playing time in the Saints’ 27-22 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sept. 27.
 
JaCorey Shepherd – Philadelphia Eagles 
Shepherd is sidelined on the Eagles injured reserve list after tearing his ACL in the preseason.
 
Kevin Short – Seattle Seahawks
Short is a member of Seattle’s practice squad. The Seahawks shutout the Chicago Bears 26-0 on Sept. 27.
 
Darrell Stuckey – San Diego Chargers
Stuckey recorded his first tackle of the season in the Chargers’ 31-14 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sept. 27.
 
Aqib Talib – Denver Broncos 
Talib helped the Broncos to a 3-0 start after a 24-12 win over the Detroit Lions, in which he posted five tackles and broke up a pass.
