Overview:An invited walk-on who adds depth at the point guard position… Has great range and can create plays… Is a gym rat having a father who is a college coach.
Sophomore Season (2011-12): Played in seven games as a sophomore, averaging 0.3 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game… Recorded a career-high two assists versus Howard (12/29)… Pulled down a rebound in two contests, versus Towson (11/11) and North Dakota (12/31).
Freshman Season (2010-11):Played in 12 games, averaging 1.8 minutes per appearance… Scored two points in his first game as a Jayhawk, going 1-for-1 against Longwood (11/12) in three minutes… Pulled down a season-high three rebounds in a win against UMKC (1/5)… Saw action in four conference games, averaging one minute in each.
High School:Averaged 16 points and five assists his senior season at Saint Anthony[apos]s High School in Long Island, N.Y., under head coach Jim Fenton… Named to the senior all-star team of the Long Island Catholic League in 2010… Scored 30 points in the league all-star game… A team captain for the Friars his senior season… Member of the academic honor roll while in high school.
Off the Court:Full name is Nicholas Paul Roberts… Parents are Norm and Pascale Roberts… Major is undecided… Norm Roberts served as an assistant coach under Bill Self for nine seasons (1996-2004) with stints at Oral Roberts, Tulsa, Illinois and Self[apos]s first year at Kansas… Norm was Self[apos]s associate head coach his last two seasons before leaving in 2005 to become the head coach at Saint John[apos]s… Norm Roberts compiled an 81-101 record in six seasons at St. John[apos]s (2005-10) and is 105-185 in 10 seasons as a head coach… Norm Roberts played college basketball at Queens College… Niko has one younger brother, Justin.
