Women's Basketball Rings In 2010 With Holiday Hoops Clinic

Jan. 1, 2010

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Over 300 kids and parents attended the University of Kansas women’s basketball Holiday Hoops Clinic on Friday afternoon. The kids, with some of their parents taking up the invitation to join them, spent New Year’s Day with the 21st-ranked Jayhawks’ women’s basketball team.

Kindergarten through eighth graders participated in drills with current KU players and coaches on Naismith Court in Allen Fieldhouse and the brand new practice facility court. Participants rotated through seven stations that included instruction on passing, shooting, dribbling and defense. The two hour clinic concluded with an autograph and picture session with KU players.

The women’s basketball team opens the 2010 portion of its schedule on Sunday when they travel to New Mexico State at 3 p.m. (CT), in the Pan American Center with a live broadcast on Fox Sports Net-Arizona. The Jayhawks will then open Big 12 Conference play at Kansas State on Saturday, Jan. 9 with an 11 a.m., tip-off in Bramlage Coliseum. The KU-KSU game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports Net.
