LAWRENCE, Kan. – It will be an NCAA Championships kind of atmosphere on Friday, Jan. 9 as the Kansas track and field teams compete at the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. The Jayhawks will face off with traditional powerhouses Arkansas (No. 7 men/No. 11 women), Texas A&M (No.6/No. 1), Oklahoma and Mississippi at the Randal Tyson Track Center. Missouri Southern will feature a women’s team only.

Kansas will feature 69 athletes in Fayetteville, many of them looking to contend for individual event titles. Senior Colby Wissel (men’s 3,000 meters), senior Zlata Tarasova (women’s weight throw), junior Jordan Scott (men’s pole vault) and junior Kelsey Erb (women’s high jump) are each ranked number one in their respective events among competitors at this meet.

Scott, one of the leaders of the Kansas men’s team, has already met the NCAA Division I men’s indoor provisional qualifying standard after winning the pole vault a month ago at the Cyclone Holiday Preview in Ames, Iowa with a leap of 5.20 meters (17-00.75 ft.).

Twenty-one other Jayhawks rank in the top five at this meet in their respective events.

Also at last month’s Cyclone Holiday Preview Hayley Harbert, MacKenzie Willis and Jamaica Collins all found the winner’s circle for the Jayhawks. All will be in action again Friday looking for a repeat performance on a more competitive stage.

Field Events begin at Noon CT, while the running events get underway at 3:35 p.m. CT. The final event is the men’s 1,600-meter relay at 8:35 p.m. CST. All results can be found shortly after the conclusion of the day’s events at www.kuathletics.com or at www.hogwired.com.
