Cash Finishes Reaches One-Meter Final

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Kansas senior Christy Cash finished with a total score of 453.30 in the one-meter event to lead the Jayhawk divers on the second day of the Bruin Diving Invitational at UCLA’s Spieker Aquatics Center Saturday afternoon.

Cash qualified for Saturday’s final after posting a score of 234.95 in the preliminary round, to put her in 17th place heading into the final. Cash added to her total, with 218.35 points in the final round to give her an 18th place finish in the event.

Freshman Meredith Brownell completed the event with 209.10 points for 30th place, while teammates junior Alyssa Golden and fellow newcomer Madeline Martin totaled 199.60 (34th) and 160.80 (52nd) points, respectively. A total of 56 divers from 17 different schools in various conferences competed in the event.

The Jayhawk divers will be back in action tomorrow as they compete in the platform event on the final day of the Bruin Invitational, with preliminaries beginning at 1 p.m. and the top-18 qualifying for the final round.
