For the second semester in a row, sophomore infielder Justin Ellrich posted a 4.0 grade point average. He was one of 37 KU athletes to achieve a perfect GPA during the fall semester.

“Congratulations to all the outstanding efforts of our players,” KU head coach Ritch Price said. “They proved that this team works hard both on the field and in the classroom. I also want to thank Academic Advisor Glenn Quick for all of his hard work.”

The 14 baseball players, as well as the other 222 KU athletes who were named to the honor roll, will be honored at halftime of Saturday’s men’s basketball game against Colorado. The student-athletes selected to the honor roll for fall semester from baseball include: Buck Afenir, Kevin Bedford, Steve Cochran, Max Ellenbecker, Nick Faunce, Ross Kelling, Thomas Marcin, Kyle Murphy, Robby Price, Brock Simpson, Blake Slagle, Paul Smyth and Joe Southers.

A record 236 student-athletes earned spots on the Athletics Director’s Honor Roll during the Fall 2006 semester, according to statistics released last week by Kansas Athletics.
