LAWRENCE, Kan. – Senior guard Angel Goodrich‘s three-pointer at the 9:52 mark in the first half put her over the career 1,000-point mark and capped a furious opening 10 minutes for the Kansas Jayhawks that set the tone for the 76-38 victory over Texas in Allen Fieldhouse Wednesday night. The 38-point margin of victory was the largest win in a Big 12 Conference game for KU and improved the Jayhawks’ record to 12-5 on the year and 3-3 in league play.

Kansas forced 11 turnovers over the first 10 minutes of the game, which doomed the Longhorns who fell to 7-11 overall and 0-7 in the Big 12. Texas finished the first half with more turnovers than points (17-12). The 12 points allowed in the opening period are tied for the third fewest by a KU opponent and are the fewest KU has allowed in a half versus a Big 12 foe.

Senior forward Carolyn Davis scored 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting in the first half to lead the Jayhawks into the intermission with a 46-12 lead. Goodrich added 11 points in the half while Kansas shot 53.1 percent in the first 20 minutes as a team.

Texas hit its first four field goals to open the second half and saw its points (21) surpass its turnovers (20) with 16:04 remaining in the game. Goodrich answered with an acrobatic layup and a three-pointer in consecutive possessions. The Jayhawks went on an 8-0 run following the hot Longhorn start to the half and the KU lead stood at 60-21 with 13:38 remaining in the game.

KU extended its lead to 40 points with 7:04 left following back-to-back three-pointers by sophomore guard Asia Boyd and Goodrich. Goodrich finished with a game-high 20 points, which marked the 11th time she has tallied at least 20 in a game in her career. She became the 26th player in KU history to surpass the career 1,000-point mark.

All 10 Jayhawks on the roster scored in the ballgame including 18 from Davis and 11 from senior guard Monica Engleman. The Jayhawks finished the game with 10 three-pointers, which is the eighth most in a game in KU history and tied for the second most versus a Big 12 opponent.

Texas finished the evening shooting 27.3% from the field. The 28 Longhorn turnovers are the most by a Big 12 team this season.

The Jayhawks continue Big 12 play on Saturday when Oklahoma State visits Allen Fieldhouse. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m., and the game will be televised by Knology.
